So two days ago I said I would share the cadrdigan I am embroidering. Unfortunately, I have been very busy. Working in retail all one thinks of the week of thanksgiving is black Friday, and not the holiday. And to add to things my boyfriend just purchased a new car. And we are still apartment hunting. So no, I do not have a finished project. I do have a sneak peak though.

The Thrifted Sweater
So, I had promised a post about refashioning the old gramma sweater for Salvo. Where as I did infact get that done I did not finish the embroidery last night. with any luck I can knock that out tonight and get some pics up here. My next project will be the thrifted dress. I slipped into it last night and it fits perfectly but makes me feel like a elementary teacher out of the 80's or something. Though with any luck i am pretty sure i can get this to look like it popped right out of the 40's into my closet. :) So I'll leave with this and head off to work. And when i get home from the ice rink i will finish stitching the sweater, provided my fingers arent completly numb.

Went thrifting tonight!
So tonight i went to Salvo for the first time in nearly a year. I was on a mission for scarves, gloves and clutches. I found a good handful of scarves for .49 a piece. No gloves at all, not a single pair. And no clutches. But to make up for it, i found a fabulous coat, a blue floral dress, and two cardigans to upcyle.
This scarf was a neat find. I am pretty sure it is a real silk scarf and has a hand rolled hem. Its a bit threadbare in a few places but still worth the .49 price tag.
This is a nice heavy winter coat with a brown and grey herringbone pattern. It is sized a medium and is decidedly to large for me. I hope to start taking it in soon and making it a bit of a fit and flair. I am fairly certain it is a women's coat with a coral lining but when I put it on it just doesnt seem shaped for a woman. Regardless it has potential. Paid 8 bucks for it.
Yeah i know, terrible picture lol. But it is a neat dress that i nabbed for 6 bucks. The label says made in India and I am fairly sure that was where it was bought too. The design label is in Indian. I am hoping to raise up the hem, and maybe change up the neckline but I am not sure how yet. I am going to make it short sleeved for sure though. Going for a 40's look.
I think tomorrow i will start on the cardigans. They are both a bit big and boxy but nice colors that I wear a lot so I thought I would take them in.

Welcome to Sew Purty
So I have been thinking about doing a blog for a long time, and now that I have sat down and done it I'm not quite sure how to start. I suppose i will start with saying that my main passion is sewing. I would like to use this blog to share my projects and see what people think. I will also be selling on Etsy, and first previewing items for sale here on the Sew Purty blog. My clothes tend to be very retro inspired with bold prints, bright colors, and sustainable fabrics. I am addicted to cottons. I like quirky embelishments and commonly add printed bias binding, embroidery, and applique work to my designs.
I'm sure i will have a slow start on here as i am currently apartment hunting and looking to be moved into a new place as soon as possible. I will try to update weekly if not more often. Hope to be seeing you soon!
